Skims Achieves $5B Valuation and Outlines Store Expansion Strategy

Skims is accelerating its shift toward global retail expansion after securing major new funding. The brand plans to grow its physical stores, scale internationally and broaden its product categories. Here's what you need to know...

  • Skims raised $225 million in new funding led by Goldman Sachs Alternatives, bringing its valuation to $5 billion.

  • The brand plans to use the investment to expand physical retail, grow internationally, and fuel category expansion in apparel and activewear.

  • Skims expects to surpass $1 billion in net sales this year and aims to become a mostly physical retail business, supported by 18 U.S. stores and two franchise locations in Mexico.

  • Kim Kardashian, co-founder and Chief Creative Officer, highlighted the milestone as validation for the team following its prior $270 million Series C round that valued the company at $4 billion two years ago.

  • Skims is expanding beyond its roots in undergarments and shapewear, launching a men’s line in 2023, partnering with Nike on NikeSkims in September, and preparing to integrate beauty and lifestyle via Coty’s sale of its 20% stake in Skkn by Kim.
