Ugg & Hoka’s DTC success

Deckers (the parent company of Hoka and Ugg) showed record growth this year thanks to their DTC sales. The rise in Hoka’s sales combined with the popularity of Ugg is to credit for their success and for helping them hit their goal of 50% DTC sales. Here’s an overview:

  • Deckers’ net sales went up 13.3% from 1.188 billion to 1.346 billion after the brand raised prices on 8% of styles and resisted holiday promotions. The success of their price increase made them an outlier as some customers are very price-conscious.
  • Ugg saw a 21% increase in acquired customers largely attributing its growth to the success of #platformuggs trending on social media.
  • Hoka sales went up 91% partially crediting the growth due to 18–34-year-olds taking to the versatile shoe designs that can be used for running or hiking.
