TikTok’s future in the U.S. in uncertain…But it’s still the number 1 destination for beauty brands looking to go viral and drive serious ecommerce sales. Here's what you need to know:

  • Amid rising geopolitical tensions and the ongoing U.S.-China trade war, TikTok’s fate is now tied to a complex standoff over national security, tariffs, and ownership.
  • While the app faces mounting pressure to be sold to a non-Chinese owner (with players like Microsoft, Oracle, and even Amazon in the mix), TikTok Shop’s beauty business continues to thrive.
  • TikTok Shop beauty sales reached $473.9 million in Q1 2025, an 87% increase from the same time period in 2024.
  • Consumers are increasingly comfortable making higher-ticket purchases — think $75 -$90 skincare bundles from brands like Medicube and Anua.
  • TikTok Shop is a key channel for many beauty brands. In Q1 2025, top brands included Tarte Cosmetics ($18.3 million), Medicube ($13.8 million), and Wavytalk ($8.7 million).
