AI-powered shopping platforms are multiplying in fashion, promising smarter personalization and faster discovery. But while the tech is maturing, many shoppers still treat it as experimental. Here's what you need to know...

  • Alta, Daydream, Phia, DressX, and OneOff are leading a new wave of AI shopping apps, each offering unique personalization features. Alta raised $11 million to power an AI closet. Daydream offers a stylist-like chat experience across 2 million products.

  • DressX enables users to try on outfits using AI-generated avatars and partners with over 4,800 brands including Off-White, Diesel, Farfetch, and Mytheresa. Its average order value is $302, with sessions lasting about three-and-a-half minutes.

  • Phia, founded by Phoebe Gates and Sophia Kianni, scans over 300 million secondhand listings, boasts 600,000 downloads, and has an 80% retention rate. It now includes AI sizing to improve user confidence before purchase.

  • OneOff focuses on creator-driven shopping, making celebrity and influencer outfits shoppable across 1 million products. It partners with retailers like Revolve and Net-a-Porter and features looks from Emma Chamberlain, Kate Hudson, and Quavo.

  • Retailers are investing in AI shopping tools as consumer expectations shift, with Walmart piloting generative assistants, Amazon rolling out AI-based suggestions, and Target testing conversational AI. The goal is to close the gap between inspiration and purchase.
